Luton – Torquay, English League One

Odds:      1,65

Final reasons

Luton has started the new season in a very good manner and we cannot see why they wouldn’t keep on in the same way when facing newcomers Torquay at home. The Torquay side has at least three first team regulars missing to this game, but even with a full squad they are rated weak this year. Torquay has let in eight goals so far and since Luton has seemed very threatening in front of goal with nine goals made so far this looks very promising. Since it is in the beginning of the season we recommend medium stake 3% on Luton.

General comment about the game

In the new English League One they have now reached to the fourth round and it is time to pick our first bet recommendation for the season. We have studied the games and we think that Luton will keep on the good work from the first three games as they now welcome Torquay. Last round Luton won away to Barnsley with 4-3 after being up 4-1. The start was very good from Luton but letting in two goals in the end of the game were not impressing, and the defensive work have to improve. But as long as Luton keeps on scoring they are a winning side. The transfers from and to Luton has been few this year. Most interesting is forward Rowan Vine (3 apps; 1 goal) who is on loan from Portsmouth. From the players who have taken part in the league action so far only defender Kevin Foley (3 apps, 0 goals) will definitely miss the Torquay game, while midfielder Stephen O’Leary (3 apps, 0 goals) is doubtful. There are no suspended players in Luton.

Torquay from the southern part of England was one of our favourites last season as they made a long stroll of impressing games during the second part of the season. Now they have been promoted and it will be much more difficult for them to be in the upper part of the league this season. Many think that Torquay will be the bottom side, and hence relegated directly. And looking at the start for Torquay it does not look so bright. With only one point so far, taken in the first round away to Bristol City, they really have to sharpen a lot. Last round Torquay lost at home to Sheffield Wednesday with 4-2. Since there were injury problems and other problems concerning the squad, Torquay had 5 new players in the starting line up compared with the game against Hull and this made it difficult. If Torquay shall manage a new contract they have to be free from injuries on their first team regulars. Torquay have problems with the first team regulars also ahead of the weekend game; defender Craig Taylor (2 apps, 0 goal) is suspended, while midfielders Alex Russel (3 apps, 0 goal) and Lee Canoville (3 apps, 0 goal) are injured. Doubtful is defender Steve Woods ( 2 apps, 1 goal).
