Pick: Hull
Stake: 3%
Odds: 1,80 (Note! The odds is presented as an AH -0,5 on Bet365)
Final reasons
Newly promoted Hull has started the new season very good and it looks as if their new signings really will make Hull to one of the top teams. Newly relegated Bradford has also started the new campaign quite well but we regard Hull’s victories more impressive and we therefore go for the home victory. 3% is the stake.
General comment about the game
Today there are some remaining games in the English League One, and we have chosen Hull against Bradford as our only pick today. After many years as favourites in the English Division Three, Hull finally succeeded to get promoted last year. And although being newcomers Hull is expected to be in the upper part of the table. And looking at the results so far, everything really points towards a very good season for the Yorkshire club. From the five first games Hull has four wins and only one defeat. The loss came away to Port Vale, a team that is normally very strong when playing at their home stadium. The winning goal for Port Vale in that game was made in injury time, so although loosing Hull did quite a good game. Last game away to Barnsley it was instead Hull that was the lucky side in the dying minutes as substitute Michael Keane made the winning goal after 88 minutes. Otherwise it was Barnsley that started the goal scoring of the day, with a header after only 14 minutes. Hull was very close to getting even just after but they had to wait until the 58th minute before Stuart Elliott could score the equaliser. The Hull coach Peter Taylor was very happy for the result since Barnsley is quite a decent side, and he was very pleased that his players kept on playing into the end. Of course Hull has made some new signings ahead of the new season. Among the new players former Leeds midfielder Nick Barmby (5 apps, 1 goal), former Southend defender Leon Cort (5 apps), former Leicester forward Junior Lewis (5 apps), former Preston forward Michael Keane (0(1) apps, 1 goals) and former West Bromwich forward Delroy Facey (2 apps) has taken part of the first team action with good result. A large squad is necessary if Hull intends to stay in the top and so far the broadened squad looks good. We all remember their down periods last year when key players were out with injuries or suspensions; maybe they won’t be as dependent this year with some key players as last year. Once again Hull will be able to field the same starting line up, but since most players are available there might be some changes. We therefore believe that Hull will be strong tonight.
Bradford had a miserable season 2003-2004 which ended in the club being relegated. To this year they are expected to be in the middle of the table and the start of the season also points out that this could be the correct expectation. Bradford has so far won two games against two teams that have not impressed so far; Stockport and Doncaster. They also looked to cruise to a third victory in the last game when they were up 2-0 against Chesterfield. However, if you do not remember that a game lasts until it is over, things can go wrong and so it did with Chesterfield turning the game to a 3-2 victory. Bradford played quite well during most part of the game but the ending was really bad. Bradford has some new players to this season. Former Everton midfielder Steven Schumacher (5 apps), former Milton Keynes Don defender Darren Holloway (5 apps) and former Barnsley defender Lee Crooks (4 apps, 1 goal) has together with on loan forward David Adebola (3 apps) from Coventry been the most used important new signings. Bradford has no new injuries or suspensions on important players ahead of the game.
