Final reasons

Highflying Chesterfield against struggling Milton Keynes looks as a strong home victory. Milton Keynes has only won against poor newcomer Torquay and they should be too weak here. We stake 2% on the home win.

General comment about the game

Chesterfield welcomes Milton Keynes Dons to a Saturday afternoon clash in the English League One. Chesterfield has started the new campaign in a very promising way and so far it looks as if they will avoid the struggle relegation as many feared. As all other clubs Chesterfield has signed some new players as well as they have sold some players. Many new players were also brought in during the last season so compared with the starting line up last year quite many are different. Among the summer signings the two defenders Shan Nicholson (5(1) apps) from Tranmere and Alex Bailey (6 apps) are used most. Then there are two loan players; midfielder Jamal Campbell (4 apps) and forward Wayne Allison (3 apps, 1 goal) from Charlton that has taken part most. Among the players who have left we find new Notts County forward Glenn Hurst who made 29 league goals for Chesterfield during three seasons; new Accrington midfielder Stuart Howson who made 54 starts for Chesterfield the last two seasons; new Wycombe defender Gus Uhlenbeek who was a first team regular during last season and midfielder Chris Brandon who was a first time regular for two years but now has left for Huddersfield. Evidently the new players have fit perfectly together and it is obviously so that one of the reasons for the Chesterfield success is that everybody does their job and that they fight for each other as a tight group. At home Chesterfield has three straight victories over teams that also have started the new season in a promising way. Both Port Vale, Colchester and Brentford has made very good games this season and beating them is impressing. Last game at home to Port Vale ended 1-0, after a second half goal and Chesterfield played very well and could have taken the lead already before half time. Chesterfield has defender Ian Evatt (6 apps) and striker Caleb Folan (6 apps, 3 goals) doubtful ahead of the game with Evatt most probable to be available.

Milton Keynes Dons were relegated from the former English Division One last year and the start of the new season has started in a way that might see them relegated also this year. During last season Milton Keynes Dons lost nearly all players in the starting line up because of the economical break down. After the players leaving; the Dons lost most of the games and the relegation was evident long time before the season ended. Now the club is trying to build a new foundation and everything is about to settle, but of course it takes a bit of time. Many new players has been brought to the club and so far it has not worked out properly. So far Milton Keynes Dons has only grabbed four points, one draw and one win. The win came last round at home to poor newcomer Torquay with 1-0. They could have done one or two goals more since the Torquay defence seemed to have a day off, and really supported the Dons strikers in their aim for goal. With a tighter defence in the visiting team the outcome of the game could have been different. Milton Keynes Dons has no new injuries reported and is likely to start with the same eleven players as in the Torquay game.
