Final reasons
Grimsby has started the new campaign with some promising wins at home and they have also made some good displays when loosing on the road. Tomorrow they face a struggling Rochdale and we believe that the Yorkshire side will take the third straight home win. We stake 3% on the home win.
General comment about the game
In the English League Two we find an interesting game between newly relegated Grimsby and expected bottom side Rochdale. Grimsby who now has been relegated two years in a row aims for the upper part of the table. So far the start has been OK at home with two wins and one draw, but worse on the road with three straight losses. Grimsby had lot of player transfers throughout last season and of course it has continued also during the summer. Looking at the player statistics so far there are seven new players who has taken part in all games of the new season. Of course this affects the team a lot since it is not easy to get play running directly. However; although loosing on the road Grimsby has managed to play good football in periods. For instance, in their last game Grimsby played away to title favourites Wycombe in a game that ended with a 2-0 loss. Grimsby played very well in the first half and in it was a minor miracle that they did not manage to score although they had a lot of sharp goal attempts. The major problem for Grimsby on the road seems to be the scoring, and in order to solve this problem a new striker is to be bought in the next days. At home however the problems with scoring have not been that apparent since they have made eight goals in three games. Grimsby’s main injury worry tomorrow is defender Simon Ramsden (6 apps), who has missed some training in midweek because of injury and might be out. There have been some other players doubtful but everyone should be available for the game.
We had a bet advice some time ago where Rochdale was included and that time they really upset us by winning away to Wycombe. That however has not been followed by any success since they now have two straight losses. So still we expect Rochdale to be in the relegation fight. With almost the same squad as last season it is hard to see that something brilliant will spring out of the club this season. Last game away to Leyton Orient saw a Rochdale side that did not take part of the game at all in the first half and it was only bad concentration among the Leyton strikers that prevented the home side from being up with more than 1-0. In the second half the Rochdale players were another team and they could equalise after 70 minutes. However Leyton responded and scored the winner after 77 minutes. There are no new injuries or suspension reported from the Rochdale squad.
