Pick: Bristol City
Stake: 3%
Odds: 1,66
Final reasons
Promotion favourites Bristol City has performed badly in the beginning of the season but in recent games they have shown another side and so they have started to win games. Stockport has started the new season very bad, and away to Bristol City who usually is a very good home side they shall not have a chance. We stake 3% on the home win.
General comment about the game
Bristol City was one of the biggest favourites ahead of the season. However things did not start as expected. This made their coach Keith Millen to make five changes in the starting line up two games ago and directly Bristol got their first victory when they beat Brentford at home with 4-0. The changes were to put in some older players instead of the youngsters and this paid back directly. In the game after Brentford, Millen stayed with the older line up and again they won. It was a well deserved victory even if they did not play as well as against Brentford. The only goal came from the feet of young Leroy Lita who now has made four goals this year, and appears to be the new hit man in Bristol City. From last years squad Bristol City has lost striker Lee Peacock who made 14 league goals last season to Sheffield Wednesday. Also departed are defender Louis Carey to Coventry and midfielder Joe Burnell to Wycombe. From the new players it is worth to mention midfielder Bradley Orr (6 (1) apps, 0 goals) from Newcastle, defender Jamie Smith (7 apps, 1 goal) from Crystal Palace and forward Paul Heffernan (3(1) apps, 0 goals) from Notts County. Bristol City has striker Lee Miller (2(3) apps, 0 goals) injured and he will probably be unavailable. Also skipper and midfielder Tommy Doherty (4(1) apps, 1 goal), defender Tony Butler (3 apps, 0 goals) and defender Danny Coles (6 apps, 0 goals) have been slightly injured in midweek but will probably be available on Saturday.
23rd placed Stockport has only grabbed four points so far. Three of the points were taken away to bottom side Blackpool. Stockport has a very young squad and their coach says that they need a bit more time in order to get things going in the right direction. In the three latest games, two have been very bad. Loosing at home to newcomer Torquay with 2-0 does not impress, neither does the first half against Brentford where Brentford had 3-0 and then just waited for the game to end. However against Tranmere two rounds ago Stockport played better and they could secure a draw when getting the equaliser in the 81st minute. The problems in the bad games have been in all parts of the team, and many of the goals conceded have been because of personal mistakes. Stockport has some new signings and worth to mention here is striker Warren Feeney (7 apps, 3 goals) who was in Bournemouth last season. Stockport has doubts for striker Luke Becket (5 apps, 4 goals), midfielder Mark Robertson (7 apps, 0 goals) and striker Jon Daly (1(2) apps) while defender Danny Griffin (0 apps, 0 goals) is definitely out with injury ahead of the game.
