Final reasons
Tranmere against Oldham in the English League One is a game with two teams that has performed better at home than away so far this season. Tranmere is expected to be in the top of the league and with six straight games in a row without loosing it really looks as if they will approaching the top places the longer the season goes. A win today means moving into the third spot and we think this is very possible. The odds offered here by Ladbrokes looks great and we definitely think it is worth a try. Compared to average odds this is 40% higher. Medium stake, 2%.
General comment about the game
In English League One Tranmere welcomes Oldham to one of the remaining games in round eight. Tranmere has started the new season with three home wins and three draws on the road. The only loss came in the first round away to Peterborough. Tranmere played away to Barnsley last weekend in a game that ended 0-0. Tranmere was closest to win since they had a header in the crossbar from close range. The game in total was quite even and the result therefore quite fair. Manager Brian Little in Tranmere was pleased with his player attitude and he feels very confident with the future, since many players are better and better adopting their new playing system. Tranmere signed some new players in the end of last season and also a couple during the summer. Most important signings are skipper and midfielder Jason McAteer (4 apps, 0 goals) from Sunderland, midfielder Simon Rankine (7 apps, 0 goals) from Sheffield United, forward Calvin Zola (4(3) apps, 1 goal) from Oldham and defender Michael Jackson (7 apps, 2 goals) from Preston. Tranmere has no new injuries and will pick the team from the same players as in the last round. Still missing is Jason McAteer, who has been out with a knee injury the last three games.
16th placed Oldham has started the new season with three wins so far; all taken at home against more or less weak away teams. On the road they have only grabbed one point so far, against Sheffield Wednesday on Bank Holiday two weeks ago. Last round Oldham played at home against Hartlepool in a game that ended 3-2. One of the host’s goal was made by new signing Kevin Betsy who played for Hartlepool the first six rounds this year. In Oldham they were very happy with midfielder Betsy scoring in his debut and now they hopes he will keep on in the same style. Oldham lost a couple of midfielders during the summer but they also signed some new players; most noticeable are forward Rodney Jack (5(1) apps, 2 goals) from Rushden and defender Mark Arber (7 apps, 1 goal) from Peterborough. These together with Betsy are expected to be in the starting line up tonight. Oldham has got a new injury in defender/midfielder Mark Donner (7 apps, 0 goals), otherwise they will have the possibility to put the same team on the pitch as recently.
