Final reasons

Second placed Colchester welcomes a struggling and injury hit MK Dons this Saturday afternoon. The strikers in Colchester showed their abilities in the last game and we think they will keep on scoring here. An easy win for the home team is expected and therefore we propose a high stake, 4%.

General comment about the game

Second placed Colchester welcomes struggling MK Dons to the ninth round of the English League One. Colchester has started the season with five wins and three losses. At home they have three wins and one loss. The defeat came to Swindon in the seventh round in a game where Swindon made their goal in first half and then where quite happy and successful just sitting back and defending. Colchester pressed and had a fair number of chances to get the equaliser but the strong Swindon defence stood up well and could manage a clean sheet. As stated, although loosing the game Colchester created chances. In the game after, against Bournemouth on the road, Colchester managed to score on their chances and winning 3-1 was impressive. Most impressive was striker Craig Fagan who really did upset the Bournemouth defence with his pace and skill. Tomorrow Colchester has a new injury on defender Sam Stockley (8 apps, 1 goal), otherwise they will have the same players available as in last game against Bournemouth.

Relegated Milton Keynes Dons (former Wimbledon) has started the new era in English League One in a non impressing manner. So far they only have one win and two draws from eight games and if they intend to stay in this league they really have to perform better. MK Dons has a young squad and this might reflect the fact that they make lots of easy mistakes and if that happens you can’t win games. Player coach Steve Palmer now believes that his team has to play more direct and not keep on passing the ball on the ground all the way from the defence up to the forwards. With this new approach maybe some easy mistakes will be avoided. Last game MK Dons lost at home to newcomer Doncaster with the single goal. MK Dons had few chances to score and their best efforts came from long distance, maybe it is easier to score if you get closer to the opponents goal! Ahead of this game there are injury problems in MK Dons. Midfielders Gary Smith (3 apps, 0 goals) and Alex Tapp (0 apps, 0 goals)) are already ruled out with injuries and now also midfielders Wade Small (6(2) apps, 1 goal) and Ben Harding (4(3) apps, 2 goals) are very doubtful for the Colchester game. This gives manager Murdoch some problems when he is to design the midfield for tomorrow since the options are few.
