Pick: Barnet
Stake: 3%
Odds: 1,75
Final reasons
Promotion chasers Barnet is the best team in the Conference League so far this season. They sit at the top of the table six points clear of second placed Carlisle. This is no coincidence since they play very well on their days. Tomorrow when they face third placed Accrington they are almost at full strength and we believe that they will continue to win. Barnet is one of the best home sides in the league and Accrington is a mediocre away side that has not won on the road since mid September. We stake 3% on a home win.
General comment about the game
Barnet is the current leader in the English Conference League and they possess an impressive record of eleven victories from 16 matches. When they play at their best almost no team in this division can coupe with them and so far this season they have played well in most matches. They started excellent with seven wins from their first eight games. After that they had a slight dip in form which saw them go three matches without a win. However since then they are back at their best; in their five latest games they have four wins and a good draw away against fellow promotion chasers Hereford and with the goal difference of 16-2. Most impressive victory in these matches must have been their away win against second placed Carlisle with 3-1. Barnet effectively ended Carlisle’s unbeaten run in a game they controlled from the start and won rightfully. Barnet has an almost fully fit squad to choose from tomorrow. Only injury concerns are midfielders Nicky Bailey (5(8) apps, 3 goals) and Guy Lopez (1(5) apps) and goal keeper Shane Gore who has been out since August.
Accrington Stanley resides in a good third position in the league. However, the league is very tight after the two top teams and before Accrington won against struggling Northwich in the only Conference game of last weekend they were in position eight. They are also nine points after leaders Barnet although they have one game more played. Their good position is also much due to their fine form in the beginning of the season which saw them come out as winners in six of their first nine games. Since then they have only won two more games from eight attempts and collecting four defeats from these fixtures. Accrington will have to do without winger Rory Prendergast (4(5) apps, 0 goals) and goalkeeper Jon Kennedy (12 apps) who both are out injured. During the week the club has signed a new keeper in veteran Paul Crichton from Leigh and he will be available for selection on Saturday.
