General comment about the game

In troubled Bristol Rovers welcomes highflying Torquay to a Tuesday evening spell in the Nationwide division three. Torquay is the form team for the moment in the league with eight wins from their ten latest games and only one loss. Last weekend they played away to another struggling side, York in a game ending in a goalless draw. The Torquay side started the game in a quite defensive way. In first half both teams had some good efforts to go ahead, but with good keepers there were no goals getting in. In the end of the game Torquay started to play the ball more on the ground and this opened up the York defence more easily than the more long balls as was characteristic for the first part of the game. With the millimetres on their side Torquay should have won the game since a totally free forward hit the post from only two meters. Ahead of this game Torquay has forward Tony Bedeau (12(6) apps, 1 goal) suspended and midfielder Jason Fowler (24(2) apps, 2 goals) missing through injury. Midfielder Alex Russell (33(1) apps), 2 goals) is doubtful and if he is missing Torquay will field the same starting line up as in the York game.

Bristol Rovers is in trouble and staying on position 20 in the table means they are really into the relegation battle. They now have eight games in a row without a win, and only four points collected. They have been more stable at home where they have played 1-1 for three games in a row. Last game Bristol played away to newcomers Yeovil who won 4-0 after a very strong display. Bristol seemed very low and there was never any discussion of how the game should end. Bristol’s defence seemed very passive and although trying to keep down the number of goals, they were not able to stop the Yeovil forwards. To this game Bristol Rovers has defender Ijah Andersson (33 apps) suspended, while midfielder Wayne Carlisle (22(3) apps, 7 goals) ands defender Danny Boxall (23(1) apps) are out with injuries. The club has tried to get in some new players but the only one they have signed so far is forward Gary Twigg from Derby. Twigg has played one full game for Derby this year and has made eight appearances as a substitute. Also disturbing the club is that care taker manager Phil Bater has declared that this is his last game before stepping aside for a new guy. This is because of the bad results.

We do not think that Bristol Rovers will manage to win today either, and with problems on the pitch and of the pitch and with a strong Torquay on visit we really believe on an away victory. However as usual, we go a bit careful in games like this and we therefore propose an Asian Handicap bet on Torquay with the handicap (0:0), meaning that we get the money back in case of a draw.  The total stake is 3%.
