General comment about the game
Bottom of the table side Northwich Victoria welcomes promotion chasers Exeter to an evening spell in the Conference league. Exeter has been up and down this season with a slow start and then a good spell in October and November, and after that, things seemed very unstable for them until the beginning of 2004. This year they have only collected one loss and this was at home to Gravesend on the 7th of February. The two last away games have been victories over Dagenham and Farnborough. And on the three last home games they have managed seven points. Last game was at home to Aldershot a game ending with a victory 2-1. The Exeter manager was very pleased after game and praised every player for their spirit. For periods Exeter played very good football which is very promising now when heading towards the final part of the season. Ahead of this game Exeter will be boosted by the comeback of striker Steve Flack (22(6) apps, 7 goals), and Barry McConnell (13(4) apps, 2 goals) who have been out with injuries, but now are back in contention. No new injuries or suspensions disturbs ahead of the game.
Northwich Victoria will surely fail the opportunity to take part in the Conference football next year. With only 16 points so far they are nine points after the second worst team. Northwich is quite bad both on the road and at home, with eight points taken both separately. The home form however is worse than away with only one single point from the last eight home games. Last game saw a fighting Northwich side win with 1-0 away to Burton. To goal came in the third injury minute, and was quite surprisingly since Burton was the better team throughout the game. To this game Northwich will miss striker Chris Thompson (17(8) apps, 5 goals) who is injured. No other important players are unavailable in Northwich camp.
With Exeter’s raising form and with Northwich’s bad home statistics we believe on an away victory here. But since we have learned that the conference is quite tricky we stay on 2% here. The odds though are surprisingly good and therefore this is a good bet.
