General comment about the game

Highflying Doncaster welcomes a re born Darlington to a Saturday evening clash at the Belle Vue. As we have stated in previous match analyses; newcomer Doncaster has made an excellent season and being one of the strongest candidates for a direct promotion spot at this stage of the season is very impressing. In midweek Doncaster played away to Yeovil in a game they won with 1-0 after a goal in the second half. This was a very strong victory since Yeovil (also a newcomer) is a very good home side that made an excellent display when they beat Bristol Rovers last weekend. In the midweek game Doncaster controlled the game quite well and after their goal there were no problems to keep result. Doncaster has been quite healthy over the last months and the only player out with injury is striker Fran Tierney. Ahead of this game the situation is the same and Doncaster will field the same starting line up that beat Yeovil.

Darlington’s season started quite bad with a very long period with lots of losses ending in the middle of January. Since the uptrend started Darlington has played ten games with six wins and only two losses. Looking a bit further at the recent results, we see that the opponents have not been the best in the league. The only striking and surprising win is the 2-0 win away to Huddersfield. Otherwise the wins and draws have come towards weak away teams or against teams from the lower part of the table. Last game Darlington played at home against Cambridge, a game that surprisingly was won by the visitors by 4-3. Darlington was up 1-0 but was unable to hold the lead although creating some good chances. Cambridge was lucky this day and many of the goals they made were clearly caused by mistakes in the Darlington defence.  Ahead of this game Darlington has no players suspended and has no new injury worries.

We believe that fully fit and in form Doncaster will beat Darlington this weekend and end Darlington’s five unbeaten games on the road. We go for a medium stake on 3%.
