General comment about the game

Fifth placed Torquay welcomes 20th placed Cambridge to the English south coast. Torquay has been one of the strongest sides in the division lately with many wins both at home and away. We have tried them many times but on the two last occasions they have only managed two draws on the road when playing York and then Bristol Rovers. The midweek game against Bristol Rovers started perfect for Torquay and they were up 2-0 already after 20 minutes and were close to get even further ahead. However things changed as Bristol started to play better and with the Torquay midfield loosing the control and the good movement the gamed ended 2-2. Ahead of this game Torquay still has forward Tony Bedeau (12(6) apps, 1 goal) suspended. Both midfielders Jason Fowler (24(2) apps, 2 goals) and Alex Russell (33(1) apps), 2 goals) have been missing lately through injuries. To this game they are both doubtful but there is hope that one of them will be fit to play. In order to have cover on the midfield because of these injuries, Torquay has brought in midfielder Liam Rosenior from Fulham on loan for one month. Liam has not taken any part of first team football with Fulham this year. Fulham consider him as a future man and hopefully the loan period with Torquay will give him a good boost. Worth to mention is that Liam Rosenior is the son of the Torquay manager Leroy Rosenior.

Cambridge started the season quite well with only one defeat in the first nine games played. Lately however they have been less successful and although residing on the second place in the away table after Torquay, the away form is not to impressing. From the four last away games they have lost three. Last weekend however they beat Darlington on the road but this was merely done because of mistakes in the Darlington defence than good play. In midweek they lost at home to bad travellers Boston with 1-0 and as a result manager Tommy Taylor left his post. Of course this will be a bit disturbing for the preparations for the game. As a caretaker manager until a permanent solution has been made, Dale Brooks will stand in. Ahead of this game Cambridge has no players suspended. Defender Fred Murray (26(4) apps) is doubtful through injury, while captain and defender Stuart Bimson (19 apps) is back in contention after being out with injury since late November.

We can’t see how Cambridge will have anything to put up against Torquay. However since there are some absentees in the Torquay squad we stay on medium stake on 3%.
