General comment about the game
Fourth placed Swindon will travel to Racecourse Ground to play against tenth placed Wrexham. Swindon continues to impress. They still have the best form in the league managing ten victories and two draws from their latest 13 games. Their only defeat came a week ago away to table toppers Plymouth in a match Swindon just as well could have earned a point from. In midweek they played at home against relegation battlers Grimsby. Swindon played very good and was two up in halftime after a fine double by striker Tommy Mooney. They were by far the better team in the first half even if Grimsby managed to create some fine chances through counterattacks. However, fine saves from Rhys Evans denied Grimsby any luck. Swindon started the second half as they ended the first with fluent attacking play with Grimsby gradually pushing forward. The game ended with a comfortable 2-0 victory for Swindon. There are no new injury or suspension worries in the Swindon squad. Midfielder Steven Robinson (20(2) apps, 1 goal) will miss out once again and Brazilian midfielder Stefani Miglioranzi (26(1) apps, 3 goals) is rated doubtful.
Mid table team Wrexham seems to have to forget about their promotion bid. They are just five points from the sixth and last playoff spot but most of the teams involved looks much more confident and also performs much better for the moment than Wrexham does. In midweek they collected another defeat on the road making it four in a row. They played against second placed Queens Park Rangers and they actually stood up against the hosts very good. QPR had to fight hard to earn all points against a much more confident Wrexham than in recent away matches. Since QPR underachieved with their nervous performance in the first half Wrexham had the chance to actually getting something from this game. However, they did not manage that and when QPR came out in the second half with a much more solid and determined performance they took over the game and when the final whistle had blown they had earned a well deserved 2-0 victory. Wrexham has four straight undefeated matches at home and in their last home game two weeks ago they put up a fine performance against a poor Grimsby side. Wrexham killed off the game already in first half when they managed to score three goals in two minutes. However, we must bear in mind that in this recent good spell at home is much due to the fact that they have played against opponents in bad form. During the whole season Wrexham has found it hard to compete against better and in form teams; they have only won one game against a team currently in top ten and that was back in October against Port Vale. Manager Denis Smith has no new injury or suspension worries for the game on Saturday. Midfielder Paul Barrett (13(6) apps, 1 goal) is back in contention after missing the trip to London in midweek through injury. Once again first choice goalkeeper Andy Dibble will be replaced by new signing Michael Ingham. Dibble has broken his arm and will probably be out for long.
We believe that high flying Swindon will continue to strengthen their bid for promotion by winning against Wrexham on Saturday. Since the odds on a Swindon win is high and the fact that Wrexham has four undefeated matches in a row at home we will suggest a more careful bet. Therefore we suggest a 3% stake on Swindon with an Asian handicap giving the money back on a draw.
