General comment about the game
Promotion chasing Hull welcomes 20th placed Rochdale to the Kingston Communication arena. Hull has recovered after three straight defeats and has now two straight victories at home. Hull is the best home team in division three and of course it helps to play at home if the home is a modern arena with lots of people in it, and this year when things are going Hull’s way the interest has risen. Hull had a weekend off last weekend and so their last game was played eleven days ago at home to Leyton Orient in a game that ended 3-1. Hull played very well, as they also did in the Scunthorpe game before that. The fact is that Hull’s both bad periods throughout this season has been in periods when Australian striker Danny Alsopp (21(5) apps, 13 goals) has been out injured. Now he is back and after being used as a substitute in the two last games he might be included in the starting line tomorrow. The only important player who is out is defender Andy Dawson (26 apps, 2 goals).
Rochdale is a team that fights to avoid relegation. Many people are surprised of Rochdale’s performance this year, and if they do not start to win more games this can really end in a bad way. Rochdale has been quite good at home lately and they now have six games at home in a row without loosing. On the road they have not been able to do the same and they have lost six out of the eight latest games on the road. The other two games ended in draws. Last game Rochdale played at home to another relegation battler, Carlisle who still holds the bottom spot. Rochdale was the better team although both teams had the similar amount of chances and ball possession. The game ended 2-0 after one goal in each half. The player situation in Rochdale is good and the only player not being available for selection is defender Shaun Smith (5 apps) who is not aloud to play against his former club. Although the injury situation is good in Rochdale, they tried to get some new players before the transfer window closed earlier this week. But after some declines Rochdale didn’t get any new signings and so they will have to keep with the current players.
We fully believe that Hull will keep up with the good football from recent games and manage to win here. We stay at medium stake in this game, 3%.
