Pick: Inverness
Stake: 3%
Odds: 1,62
Final reason for bet
· Inverness is a very good home side
· Inverness is fighting for promotion and will be very eager to win
· Falkirk has nothing more to play for this season and looked uninspired in the last game.
General comment about the game
We are approaching the end of the Scottish Division 1 and it looks as we have a very intense and interesting race here between Inverness and Clyde who both can reach the only promotion spot. For the moment Clyde are two points clear but since the teams will play each other in the next round things are very open. Inverness starts the final rounds with a home clash against Falkirk. Inverness is a very good home side who has not lost at home since November the 1st, against Falkirk. They now have five straight wins and they surely will do everything in order to keep up this tradition. In the last round Inverness made a very good display against relegation battlers Raith Rovers. Already in the second minute Inverness scored the only goal, but they could have extended this lead on many occasions in the first half since the defensive line in Raith Rovers was in a real mess. In the other half Raith Rovers were a little bit more offensive but they never threatened the Inverness goal keeper. Ahead of this clash on loan forward Darren Mackie (5 apps) from Aberdeen is out injured, otherwise Inverness can field the same squad as last weekend.
Falkirk won the Scottish Division 1 last year but since they didn’t fulfil the arena standards for the Scottish Premier League they were not promoted. This year the club has been less impressing and they are more of a mid table team.
On the road Falkirk was quite a good side in the beginning of the season with eight straight games without a defeat. After that they have been more inefficient and from the last eight away games four have been losses. Last week Falkirk welcomed Saint Mirren to a home clash. The game started very slow with both teams looking very uninterested in playing football. But after 25 minutes Falkirk suddenly made 1-0, and this changed the game. Falkirk had more chances of scoring just after the goal but didn’t manage to do so. In the other half Saint Mirren pressed for an equaliser and also had a penalty claim dismissed by the referee. Falkirk was reluctant to go forward but could see the time fade for Saint Mirren and three points were collected. All in all Falkirk didn’t impress although winning, and for Saint Mirren the relegation battle is still not over. The way Falkirk played gave the feeling of a team that has nothing to fight for and it is hard to see them stand up against an Inverness side fighting for promotion.
This is a bet that is very much taken because of the importance it has for Inverness. Since Falkirk has nothing to play for more than honour, we think that Inverness will take three points and at least keep the distance to Clyde. Medium stake 3% is proposed.
