General comment about the game

In the Danish SAS Liga we have found the game between Midtjylland and AGF Aarhus as one of the most interesting games today looking at it from a betting point of view. Midtjylland has four straight victories at home in their new stadium and the magnificent goal difference 14-2 in those games. Furthermore, they are in a three game winning row. In the last round they managed to beat title chasing FC Copenhagen with 2-1. The game was very entertaining and in the first half both teams had a number of chances to score after very optimistic and open play. The first half ended 1-1 after Midtjylland made the first goal. In the second half things were a bit more calm and it was not until the final 15 minutes as another goal seemed to be on its way as the game opened up in both ends. Mostly it was Copenhagen that was pushing forward but it was Midtjylland’s striker Muhammed Zidan who instead scored as he took advantage of a mistake in the Copenhagen defence. The result was of course disappointing for title chasing Copenhagen but it was not totally unfair anyway. To the Aarhus game Midtjylland has two players out with injury; central defender Sören Skriver and midfielder Claus Madsen.

Aarhus had problems with their play during the autumn period of the season. In the end they changed coach to the championship winning Sören Åkeby from Swedish Djurgården. When Åkeby arrived things started to work better than before and they ended the autumn season with four wins from their six last games. During the winter break Aarhus best striker Peter Graulund left the club. However, they also bought in some new players but this has not worked out as they expected. From nine games played during the spring season they have lost six games and won only two. Last weekend Aarhus beat Esbjerg at home with 4-1 although missing a number of their regular players. Aarhus got a brilliant start and was up 2-0 quite immediately and that put Esbjerg in a chock state that prevented them from playing well and catching up with Aarhus. In the second half it was obvious that Esbjerg had taken decision of going forward in order to equalise and maybe also win the game. But although creating a number of good chances Esbjerg could not score and instead it was Aarhus who could make their third goal on a counter attack in after 64th minute. After that both teams seemed to settle and the ball was most of the time on the middle of the field. In the end of the game both teams succeeded to score one goal each and it all ended 4-1.  Åkeby hailed the team spirit after the game that he thought was the main reason for the success, but he also pointed out the importance of the two early goals that put a certain pressure on the visitors. Aarhus still has a number of important players missing and to tonight’s game they will also miss their captain Brian Steen Nielsen. The other injured players are midfielders Thomas Thorninger, Mikkel Bo Jensen, Jeffrey Aubynn and Martin Ulander, and also defenders Wade Barrett and Kasper Kure.
