IF welcomes Sirius from Uppsala to a Monday evening clash in one of six Swedish
Division 2 series. Vasalund has started the new
season in a promising way and after five rounds they are table toppers with 10
points. Two of the wins have been taken on the road and at home they have one
victory and one draw. Vasalund lost the last game
away to Visby Gute with
1-0, after Visby scoring on a free kick in the second
half. In first half both teams created a number of chances but they lacked the
ability to put the final touch to the ball. In the second half it was much less
chances, and consequently the only goal had to be from a fixed situation.
Sirius has been quite a disappointment this year with
only six points from the first five games. Their main problem seems to be the
defence since they already has let in 17 goals. 10 of these goals have been
conceded on their two away games. The loss away to one of the favourites Valsta Syrianska in the second
round is not so surprising, but the other away loss with 6-2 against Tyresö is not impressing. Good news for Sirius is that they
won last game with 5-3 after being up 5-1 when there was only 15 minutes left.
The game was played against Vallentuna that so far is
one of the worst teams in the league. Sirius played well during most part of
the game but in the dying minutes they fell back to a more shaky behaviour. To
this game Sirius has defender Einar Brekkan out with injury and of course this won’t boost an
already weak and struggling defence.
