Final reasons

Third placed Odd Grenland is in good shape. No injuries in the squad apart from their regular goalkeeper. They play well, score goals and have started the season very promising. At home they are still unbeaten and have collected ten points from twelve possible. Molde on the other hand is a disappointment so far this season. They reside third from bottom and have only made one really good result; their victory away against title favourites Rosenborg. We believe that current form will decide the outcome for the game tonight so we go for a home win. However, consider that Molde on one occasion have shown that they can disturb good teams we keep the stake on 2%.

General comment about the game

For the second time in a row we suggest Odd Grenland when they play at home. Almost two weeks ago they fulfilled our expectations by winning against Lilleström with 3-2 despite getting a man sent off. Man of the match was Odd’s midfielder Christian Flindt Bjerg who scored a hat trick; two of the goals came from beautiful free kicks. Tonight they will be visited by another underachiever, Molde, and we predict a similar outcome as in last home game. In last round they played away against title favourites Rosenborg and lost with 2-0. Odd played for once very defensively and tried to hold on to the point they had from the beginning. However, Rosenborg showed class and won rightfully. In that game Odd had there new signing and striker Olivier Occéan suspended and that had a negative effect when they tried to create anything useful upfront. Fortunately, he will be available again tonight. In midweek they played in the Norwegian Cup and won with 2-0 against lower division Skarphedin. Only injury concern is that they once again will have to do without their first choice goalkeeper Erik Holtan.

Molde has started the new campaign much worse than they expected. Their goal is to be among the best four which will give them a place in the Royal League. However, to achieve this they must play better than they have done so far. Molde was also a big disappointment last year when they wanted to repeat the good season of 2002 when they ended up on the second spot behind Rosenborg. However they had difficulties all through the season and in the end they were happy just to avoid relegation, they ended up on the ninth spot. To this year coach Reidar Vågnes is back in the club after five years and now the spirit and self belief seems to be back in the club and among the players. To this year they have lost last years most important player Daniel Berg Hestad, but with some new signings they still have quite a good midfield where the biggest star this year is Magne Hoseth who has scored three goals so far. If Molde have to sell Hoseth during the season this is a clear setback for them. Molde has started in a quite bad way this year, but they won 2-0 away to Rosenborg third rounds ago which of course was a boost for the team. Otherwise they have lost twice on the road and managed one draw. Last game they played at home to Vålerengen. Molde took the lead in the first half but Vålerengen could equalise on a penalty before half time. In the second half not many chances were created and neither team must be too sad for the draw.
