Gefle – Brage, Swedish Superettan

2004-06-09 20.00 CET

Pick:       Gefle

Stake:     3%

Odds:      1,90

Final reasons

Gefle is looking tight and strong and their start of the season has been very good. Their latest wins over awaited top team Öster and bottom team Falkenberg has been very good displays, and when they now can continue with nearly the same starting line up they should be able to keep up the good play. The optimism in the club is very high and everybody is fully focused in order to win this game. Although Brage being a newcomer it is a traditional Swedish club who has played many years in the highest division and therefore it is not likely that Gefle underestimates Brage. We believe that Gefle will take their fourth home victory tonight and we suggest a 3% stake.

General comment about the game

The Swedish Superettan continues today with a nearly full round. The game between leaders Gefle and eight placed Brage have drawn our attention. Gefle has been little of a surprise so far much due to a very tight and organised play. At home they have had a brilliant defence and on the four games played they have not let in any goal at all. Overall it seems as if Anders Revdahl and Magnus Wikström are the best performing centre backs in the league so far and as long as they can secure the defence Gefle will surely stay in one of the top positions. Last game Gefle played away to one of the bottom sides, Falkenberg. Gefle could secure a 2-0 victory after two goals from headers and some convincing play. To this game Gefle has left wingback Mikael Thuresson suspended; Anders Wikström will replace. Otherwise Gefle will field the same squad as in the last game.

Brage is one of three newcomers this year and so far everything looks as if they will manage to renew the contract, but of course we are just in the beginning of the season and much can happen. The main part of the squad from last year is still in the club but there has been some interesting signings. The most important are midfielders Philip Commes and Daniel Karlsson. However, Commes has had different problems so far and has not been the awaited injection. So far Brage has taken the main part of their points when playing at home. On their three away games they have only grabbed one point.  However the away games have been quite tight and their goal difference on 2-4 also underlines this. Last game Brage played at home to Brommapojkarna in a game that they won with 3-1. However, looking at the game the result was not fair since Brommapojkarna dominated the second half totally until Brage’s goals. After the first quite even half the result was 1-1. In the second half Brage did hardly create anything until the 70th minute when they suddenly made 2-1, which came as a chock for Brommapojkarna. The goal was a boost for the home players who also made a third goal before the game was over. Brage has been hit hard by injuries in some games and still important midfielder Göran Bergort is missing through injury. Today also forward Jörgen Sundström and midfielder Philip Commes are missing through injuries and also defender Johan Berg is out with suspension.
