Final reasons

Title chasers Bohemians is in very good form. They have three successive victories with the goal difference of 9-1. They have only let in one goal in their six latest matches. The main reason for this is that their treatment room is much less packed than before. The reverse is true when you look at the form and the injury status for Shamrock lately. The game this afternoon will be played at Dalymount Park which is the home ground for Bohemians! This is obviously a big advantage for Bohemians and a fact that not reflect the odds from the bookmakers. Even if we believe that a confident and strong Bohemians will win this match we must consider the fact that they miss their influential skipper. With this in our mind we go for an Asian handicap giving the entire stake back if the match ends with a draw. Medium stake 3%.

General comment about the game

This afternoon the Irish Eircom league continues with the derby match between Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians. Title chasers Bohemians has finally hit the form and is now unbeaten for six straight games. Their bad start of the season was much due to injury concerns but since some rounds ago these problems has disappeared. Their last three games have all been impressive victories and they have also managed to score three goals in each. In these matches they have played very well and the team is now full with confidence. Currently they reside on third place in the league five points behind league leaders Shelbourne, who also has one less game played. The distance is still big between the rivals so it is very important for Bohemians that they can continue to win matches so the gap will be getting smaller. In last game against high flying Drogheda, Bohemians controlled the game from start to finish. They were 2-0 up already after 27 minutes and the rest of the game saw a totally dominating Bohemian side amuse the spectators with impressive play in all parts of the area. Unfortunately, skipper and two-goal hero Kevin Hunt sustained an injury that will keep the influential midfielder out of the team for about two weeks. New striker from Shamrock Rovers, Tony Grant will miss out through suspension will fellow striker Stephen Ward is still ruled out with his injury. Most likely to partner top scorer Glen Crowe upfront this afternoon is Robbie Doyle.

Shamrock’s season has so far been like a rollercoaster. They started bad with only one victory in the first five matches. This was followed by seven unbeaten matches in a row. And now they have lost the good form and collected three straight defeats. This is however much due to the fact that they have a small squad which has suffered from many injuries. Shamrock has had the reverse than Bohemians; when Boh’s started to get back people, Shamrock’s injury blows started. In mid week when they got defeated by Waterford with 1-3 they missed six regular players. The misery got worse for Shamrock when captain Terry Palmer was forced off with an injury after 30 minutes. Although Shamrock managed to equalise before halftime the victory was well deserved for Waterford. Their injury situation is brighter today since striker Trevor Molloy and defender Jason McGuinness is likely to start again. Furthermore, midfielders Keith O’Halloran, Mark O’Brien, Derek Tracey and central defender Terry Palmer hopes to pass late fitness tests. It is not likely that all will figure in the game. Definitely out with injury is central midfielder Paul Caffrey.
