Title favourites Häcken has started the new season very good. At the moment they reside on second spot; four points behind the surprise team Gefle but they have two matches less played so they have the leading spot in reach. After ten rounds they are still unbeaten and now they are in a row of three straight victories. At home they have collected four victories from five attempts. Their goal for this season is to finish among the top two that automatically get a place in next year’s Allsvenskan. Also last year they aimed for Allsvenskan but they failed in the playoffs so this year they will fight hard to finish higher than last year and get a direct promotion spot. In Sweden, Häcken is known for growing talented players that leave the club before they get full potential. Also to this year they have sold two of their better and most talented players; midfielder Tobias Hysén to Swedish champions Djurgården and striker Ivica Skiljo to Trelleborg. On the positive side they have at least two very interesting new signings; experienced midfielder Jesper Ljung and striker Mats Haglund. Both have played in all ten matches and both have scored three goals so they have fulfilled the high expectations. Haglund played last year in tonight’s opponents Åtvidaberg. In last round Häcken played away to fellow promotion hopefuls Assyriska. The hosts had five consecutive victories in front of the game but Häcken effectively put and end to that row. Åtvidaberg started the new season in a very promising way; four straight victories at home and two points from three matches on the road. It looked as they could repeat their fine last season when they surprisingly ended up in fourth spot. However, the last four rounds have been anything than good; they have only collected two points and this have seen them drop to eight place in the league. To this season they have lost their top scorer Mats Haglund, who went to Häcken. They have one new interesting signing in attacking midfielder Kristian Bergström. The club has chosen to give young players the chance this year and it would be a surprise if they end up high in the table. Last game at home against Brommapojkarna became another bad performance for the hosts. Brommapojkarna dominated the game and was also in the lead until the last minutes of the game when Åtvidaberg managed to equalise. The hosts looked tired and their passing and moving was not visible and in the end they must be very satisfied with the point they collected. Tonight they will have to do without suspended striker Andreas Thomsson (11 apps).
