Final reasons

This is a game between the league leaders and the bottom team. It is also a game between the best home team and the worst away team. It is also the best form team against the worst form team (last six matches). Gefle has impressed big time this season most due to their amazing stability and self belief. Västerås is the reverse; their defence is leaking and they show no stability at all. It would be a very big surprise if a fully fit Gefle will be disturbed by weak Västerås today. We stake 4% on Gefle.

General comment about the game

Today the Swedish Superettan continues with another round. Our attention is drawn to the game between Gefle and Västerås. Gefle is still table toppers after twelve rounds and continues to both surprise and impress. Their defence is the best in the league; at home they have after six matches not let in any goals and in total they have only let in four.

Up front they have been creative and also on many occasions shown good passing skills and movement. If they can continue with these kinds of performances they will be a real contender for promotion. Last home game was two weeks ago against another promotion hopeful Västra Frölunda. Gefle took the command right from the start, as usual when playing at home, and scored after just four minutes. The first half was brilliant from Gefle as they created many more chances to extend their lead but could not manage too score. Second half was not as eventful as the first with the hosts more concerned with holding their lead than extend it and the final score became 1-0 to Gefle. In last game they impressed very much by winning over strong home team Café Opera. Also in that game they started very good and were 2-0 up already after 25 minutes. This was enough to win the game. No injury or suspension worries in the squad.

Västerås is in a real bad period. They have only collected two points from their six latest games. This has made them fall to bottom of the table. They have problems all over the pitch; their defence is leaking, their midfield is not able to take control of the games and they create too little up front to really disturb their opponents. Their away record is the worst in the league since they have lost five games and drawn in one. In last round they were beaten by Norrköping with 0-2 at home in a game that we recommended to you. Norrköping’s victory was never in danger and it was well deserved. Both goals came after crosses into the penalty area and unmarked Norrköping players were able to head toward goal. This further underlines Västerås problem in defence even if new loan signing Andrew Kelly made a quite good performance in his central position.
